WELCOME
The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce are passionate about the growth and success of local commerce and actively work to build economic strength, innovation and diversity within the region.
With over 400 members, the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce aim to advocate on behalf of the business community to be the voice that will support and encourage projects that provide tangible commercial and community outcomes for Port Hedland, South Hedland and Wedgefield.
Reflecting on the financial year 2020-2021, it has been quite a tumultuous period due to the onset impacts the COVID-19 global pandemic has had on the regional business sector. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PHCCI were successful in receiving funding through
BHP’s Vital Resources Fund to embark on an Economic Development Action Plan, through this project the PHCCI set out to investigate potential economic opportunities for Port Hedland, aiming to capacity build existing businesses while also supporting business investment into Port Hedland. The Economic Development Plan will be formally launched in early 2022 with the project actions to commence thereafter.
The WEB Business Hub continues to go from strength to strength offering an inclusive, accessible & welcoming space for the local business community and wider Pilbara region offering blended learning opportunities both online and in person. Through the support of a Regional Economic Development grant and BHP the WEB has successfully ran a 6-month coding program aimed for women living in Port Hedland.
August 2021 marked the first anniversary of the Bungalow on Edgar. The Bungalow on Edgar was created to provide a new retail ecosystem in Port Hedland which provides discounted rent to home based and micro retail operators. Earlier this year the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce launched the Hedland Young Professionals, which was developed to address a gap in the local market for professional networking opportunities for people aged between 18 to 40 years.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our 9-member committee and staff, each member of the organisation have brought fantastic contributions, insight and experience to the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and have played an integral part in ensuring the many successes of the PHCCI this past year.
